LEGAL BASIS OF BOROUGH OPERATIONS

The Borough of Bear Creek Village operates under the Borough Code (Title 8 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes). Borough Council (the legislative branch of the Borough) is made up of five (5) members who are elected for 4 year terms. In addition there are an elected Mayor who serves as the official “Head of State”, and an elected Tax Collector who is responsible for collecting borough and county real estate taxes and an elected Controller. The Solicitor, Secretary/Treasurer and Zoning Officer are appointed by the council, as are the Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board members.

FORMATION OF THE BOROUGH

The Borough of Bear Creek Village was established in September, 1992. The first governing body was elected at a special general election held on August 17, 1993.

The Borough Council holds regular meetings the third Monday of each month at 7 PM in the Bear Creek Association Clubhouse located at 125 White Haven Road, Bear Creek, PA 18602

Bear Creek Village is situated in a beautiful wooded setting that is located on both sides of Hwy 115 approximately 7 miles south of exit 170 on Hwy 81.The present size of the Borough is about 150 households with a population of about 257 (based on the 2010 census). Currently all streets are correctly labeled and placed, and most homes are correctly identified.
